Kathmandu– All six people aboard the Manang Air chopper that crashed at Lamjura of Likhupike Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district on Tuesday, have died in the accident.

Six people including Captain Chet Bahadur Gurung and five Mexican nationals were aboard the aircraft, according to Raju Neupane, operation and safety manager of Manang Air.

The helicopter of Manang Air with the call sign 9NA-MV en route to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu carrying six passengers on board including a pilot had gone missing since 10:01 am today.

Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu, Basanta Bhattarai, said the helicopter was found in a crashed condition and primary information was received that the chopper met with an accident at Lamjura pass.

The crash site lies at the border of Likhupike of Solukhumbu and Umakunda rural municipality of Ramechhap. Five bodies have been recovered at the incident site, he added.

A helicopter of Altitude Air from Kathmandu was mobilized to search the missing helicopter and a team of Nepal Police was deputed from Solukhumbu.

Manager of Manang Air, Raju Neupane, said the five passengers are Mexican nationals.
